TK Volumetrics privacy

Effective 25 August 2026. Operator: Anthony Taves (vibealive.us).

TK Volumetrics is an iPhone app that visualizes NASA Earth science lidar. It is not an official NASA, CNES, NSIDC, or xAI product.

What the app does not do

What happens on your device

Lidar interpolants are cached on the phone for dates you have viewed. If you sign in to NASA Earthdata, your username and password are stored in the iPhone Keychain (this device only) so the app can mint a NASA user token.

What leaves the device

Signed out, the app requests public NASA services (GIBS imagery, CMR granule metadata, NSIDC browse maps).

Signed in, the app sends your Earthdata username and password only to NASA Earthdata Login (urs.earthdata.nasa.gov) over HTTPS, then uses the token NASA returns to request protected CALIOP subsets from NASA DAACs. We do not receive a copy of that password on any server we operate.

Your NASA account

Earthdata Login is NASA’s service. Create, change, or delete that account at urs.earthdata.nasa.gov. Sign out in the app (satellite button) to remove the Keychain copy from this iPhone.

Children

The app is a general-audience science visualization. It is not directed at children under 13.
